I was born in 1983 – the year of the pig – in Sydney, to Vietnamese parents. Camera in hand since I was eight years old, I started taking pictures to record things of interest. However, I am in the process of transformation from a dispassionate and somewhat melancholic observer – the product of an upbringing in which I was told to obey my betters – towards a shouty man with ideas about justice, humanity, longevity and society; the product of living in the west and realizing that what I was told as a child does not match up with the reality I face as an adult. As an American citizen, I have embraced the ideal of standing up for one’s beliefs and forging my own path; and therefore, with my camera and my ideals, despite the sometimes overwhelming nature of the world I live in, I have found my way of shouting.
I now split my time between New York and Chicago.
